Planning Services

The Planning division of Community Development continues to experience high customer service and land use case volume and remains short-staffed.  It is important to maintain a high level of responsiveness and customer service and challenging to do so with our current staffing and work load.

The best means of contacting the Planning staff with inquiries remains the Planner of the Day email and phone line 970-429-2764.  Using these allows staff to respond to inquiries in an orderly manner, ensures the fastest response time, and most efficiently uses our limited staff resources.  Please refrain from contacting multiple members of the Community Development staff with a given issue, as it creates confusion, and increases response times.

Your patience with our longer response and case completion timelines is greatly appreciated.

Please contact Phillip Supino, Community Development Director, with any questions: phillip.supino@cityofaspen.com.

Thank you!

Salesforce Inspections—What You Need to Know

As a refresher, here is some basic information about how the inspection process works in Salesforce:

  1. As your permit is moved into the ‘Ready for Issue’ and ‘Issued’ statuses, the system generates initial building inspections and the initial and final inspections for all referral agencies, e.g. Engineering, Parks, Historic Preservation, etc.
  2. You will see these inspections on the applicant portal, but you will not be able to request them until your permit is in ‘Issued’ status.
  3. It is the contractor’s responsibility to request all of the initial building inspections required for the scope of work.  If you have questions about what inspections are required, please contact the Building Department inspectors.
  4. It also is the contractor’s responsibility to request all of the initial and final referral agency inspections.
  5. If the result of an inspection is ‘Partial/Non-Complete,’ it means that the inspector needs another inspection of the work.  The system will automatically generate another inspection for you to request when you are ready.
  6. Once all initial building inspections and all initial and final referral agency inspections have passed, the system will generate the final building inspection.
  7. If you want to have a preliminary inspection before you request the final building inspection, please request a Special Inspection.

Please contact sfsupport@cityofaspen.com if you have questions or are experiencing problems with the inspection process.
