Streets Superintendent Jerry Nye Retires After 33 Years of Service
Aspen, Colo. – April 24, 2023 – Jerry Nye, Streets Superintendent, is retiring after 33 years of service. Jerry began his career at the City of Aspen in November of 1989 where he started as an equipment operator and was later promoted to Assistant Superintendent in 1997.
In 2001, prior Assistant City Manager Randy Ready appointed Jerry as Superintendent. Jerry and the Streets Department have diligently provided the city with street sweeping, snow removal, asphalt overlay projects, storm water inlet and pipe cleaning services, among many other services.
“The residents of Aspen are my customers, and these tasks were completed by very dedicated individuals. I was very fortunate to have a very hard working and competent Streets and Fleet crew that made it a privilege to do my job”, Jerry stated.
Jerry and his wife, Rita, are beginning the next chapter of their lives in Grand Junction where you can find them camping, fishing, or enjoying time with their grandchildren.
During the recruitment process for a Streets Superintendent, Daniel Maldonado, Assistant Streets Superintendent, will serve as Interim Streets Superintendent.
Friday, April 28 will be Jerry’s last day on the job. The city would like to thank Jerry for his years of service and wish him well as he begins his next chapter.
